All-Star Dad

Realization on how family can change you

Being a Toronto Raptors NBA blogger, I was excited back in September of 2013 when the rapper Drake and then Toronto mayor Rob Ford helped announce that Toronto would be hosting the 2016 NBA All-Star game.

The time had finally come last weekend and I had the opportunity to head to Toronto to check out the weekend festivities. Having the NBA All-Star weekend so close to home was an opportunity that I couldn't pass up being such a big NBA fan. Unfortunately, I had to go on the trip solo without the family as my 2.5 year old and 9 month old are a little too young to appreciate the NBA festivities.

My toddler wakes up too early.

My toddler wakes up too early.

And then I found a way to fix it.

Having a toddler wake up at 5:00 AM on a Saturday morning sucks.

After having a lot of difficulties with sleep as an infant, my two year old son was finally sleeping through the night. He was doing great other than a few odd night time wakings, until we hit the time change in the fall. He never really got used to the change in time, waking up long before the crack of dawn. Sometimes at 5:00 AM, sometimes 5:30 AM. He would continue to yell to us "WAKE UP!" in the other room to let us know that he was up - and wouldn't give up.

"WAKE UP, MOMMY! WAKE UP, DADDY!"

Those mornings were tough.
