My fave photos from my #Project365 as a Dad

An iPhone, an Instagram account and 365 Days of Photo Dedication

Last March, my wife and I set out on one of our last vacations before our son was born. We had a voucher for free timeshare accommodations anywhere in the world. We decided on a lovely vacation to Virginia Beach. That's right, Virginia Beach. In March. Don't get me wrong, Virginia Beach is beautiful, but it's not exactly hot beach weather in March. The average temperature was probably about five degrees celsius. It was chilly.

While on vacation in the VA, I decided my to make use of my iPhone and Instagram account and decided to begin my own #Project365, dedicating myself to taking one photo a day for 365 days and creating my own online memory book. I did my best to maintain it for a year and went the whole stretch.

As expecting parents, we were just starting to purchase items for the baby on  Day 1.  Fast forward one year later, and we have an eight month old who's crawling all over the place and beginning to develop his walking skills.  Luckily for me, I have at least 365 photos of the that year of my rookie season of fatherhood.

Here are my favourites.

#6 07.16.13 Day 125 - Brothers.

We were a little unsure of how our dog, Muggsy (named after the legendary NBA player, Muggsy Bogues) would get along with a new baby in the house. Muggsy has spent his entire life being an only child (with 2 pet cats) and even sleeps in our bed (under the covers). Therefore, we didn't know if we would have a big jealously problem on our hands.

Just two weeks after Kyrie's arrival at the Aquino home, it was apparent that Mr. Muggsy Bogues was ready to be a big brother.

#5 09.02.13 Day 183 - The Fam.

One of our first road trips as a family took us to Sydney, Cape Breton, to visit family. We stayed at the Holiday Inn and Lil' Kyrie got a taste of hotel life.  He was just over two months old and this is when he started to become more interactive as a baby, a little more human...we started to see some real smiles (not just gas smiles), flapping arms and cooing.

#4 10.19.13 Day 228 - It's Fall!

It was October and we thought it would be fitting if we took Kyrie to a pumpkin farm to choose a perfect pumpkin for a jack-o-lantern.  We traveled to Dill's Pumpkin Farm in Windsor, Nova Scotia. He was at the age where you could actually hold him in the air, and not worry about potentially breaking him.

#3 07.14.13 Day 133 - When you turn two weeks old, you need a day to just chill.

It was a hot, sunny day in July.  Kyrie just turned two weeks old and needed to unwind from all excitement of being a new baby.  We took him to his Grammie's and Grandad's where he enjoyed a full spa treatment.

#2  06.30.13 Day 119 - Welcome to the world, Kyrie.

Taken just seconds after Kyrie was born, I had my phone ready to capture Kyrie's first moments in the world. An amazing moment.

#1  01.06.14 Day 307 - Kyrie goes to Darrell's.

We went to Darrell's in Halifax for lunch just after New Year's.  I ordered the club house and fries, put it in front Kyrie, the photo says the rest.
